Baptism

Baptism is the first Sacrament of Initiation.

In the waters of baptism we are initiated in the Church as children of God and commissioned to live as Christ’s followers. Anointed by the Holy Spirit, we are cleansed from sin and begin new life in Christ.

Baptism of Infants
Baptisms usually takes place at 11.30am on Sundays.

All Baptisms need to be booked at least one month in advance.

It is a requirement that at least one parent and one of the Godparents are practising Confirmed Catholics (Copy of Baptism Certificates need to be provided with Request Form).
A minimum of two godparents is required.

Prior to the baptism, attendance is compulsory to a Baptism Information Evening. Refer to the Parish calendar on this website for dates. Ideally, both parents and godparents should attend.

To confirm your booking please hand in to the Parish Secretary before the baptism evening, your completed Request for Baptism Form which can be found in the Perspex display case in the foyer of the church.

It is also customary for a donation to be made to the Priest (in attached envelope) on the day of Baptism.
