MEETING FRIDAYS AT 10AM IN PARISH MEETIN ROOM
MARY QUEEN OF THE FAMILY PRAESIDIUM – OCEAN REEF
The Legion of Mary is a lay catholic organisation whose members are giving service to the Church on a voluntary basis in almost every country. The object of the Legion of Mary is the glory of God through the holiness of its members developed by prayers and active cooperation in Mary’s and the Church’s work. The members of the Legion are primarily engaged in the performance of the Spiritual Works of Mercy. The basic unit of the Legion is called a Praesidium, which holds a weekly meeting and allocates a weekly apostolic task to the members, who generally work in pairs.
Mary Queen of the Family, Ocean Reef Praesidium was first established in September 2000 and was active until 2006.
On the 20th of August 2025, under Our Blessed Mother guidance, and with the blessing of Fr. Leonard and Fr. Mariusz, the Praesidium resumed its activity. We hold our weekly meeting every Friday at 10am in the Parish meeting room. All work carried out is done in close union with Mary and guided by the Holy Spirit. Legionaries are available to collaborate in every apostolic and missionary undertaking sponsored by the Parish.
Typical works of the Legion are:
Works of Conversion (introducing the Catholic faith to others).
Works of Conservation (strengthening the Catholic faith among the baptised Catholic, i.e. baptismal visits, spreading of catholic literature, promoting the use of sacramentals and devotions).
Works of Consolation (that involve visiting and provide comfort and connection to the sick, home-bound and those in institutions like nursing homes and hospitals).
