2016 Altar Servers New Recruits

On Sunday 16th of October, we were happy to commission the following five new Altar Servers:
Alvaro Blackall; Elisabeth Geldart; Niamh Hughes Hall; Rose de Lima and Finnegan Fogarty.
We pray that God will richly bless them and their families as they commit themselves to this beautiful ministry.

Easter Vigil Mass 2016

Our Easter Vigil Mass celebration began with the lighting of the Easter Candle from a fire lit outside the church where all the ministers and RCIA Elect gathered.
Then followed with the procession into the darken Church by Fr Francis with the lighted Easter Candle and as we held our own lighted candles which had filled the darken Church with ‘The Light of Christ’, the Exsultet was sung by Thierry Venaille.
During this celebration we witnessed the Baptism of Charmaine Sardinha, Thary Heng and Penny Mulholland and welcomed into our faith community, Rosemary Fogarty and Kathleen Mulholland. Together with Catherine and Angelique Sardinha, they were all also Confirmed and received their First Holy Communion.    After our Mass celebration there was a gathering in the Parish Centre and a light supper was served to welcome our new members of the Faith.

Youth Group

Our Parish Youth Group has now been running for 1 year and operates every second and fourth Sunday of the month.
It is facilitated by qualified and experienced Youth Ministers from the 24:7 Youth Ministry Alliance which is an outreach of the Perth Branch of the Disciples of Jesus Covenant Community.
They have their regular gatherings after the Sunday 5pm evening Mass and have between 14 and 20 youth in attendance.
Please check out the Youth Group page on this website for more information on up coming events and meetings.

Farewell Fr Darek

Saturday the 16th of January the St Simon Peter Parish Community held a farewell dinner after the 6pm Mass for our Parish Priest Father Darek. John Hollywood gave a farewell speech written by Stephen Harris who was unable to attend.
Below are some exterpts from that speech.

Christmas greetings to all!
Our Carols By Glowlight night had a wonderful turnout with a lively atmosphere of enjoyment and community spirit.
Carol singing was led by the Parish Music groups and a large childrens choir conducted by Natalie Templeton.
Santa with bags of lollies came to visit - a big hit with the 100 plus children. A fun night for all!
The 6pm Family Mass started with a Nativity Play written and directed by Fran Beale. Children had two prior rehearsals and did a fantastic presentation on the night.
At the start of Mass Fr. Francis carried baby Jesus (aka Leah Laundy) to be placed in the manger. There she slept till the Homily, great timing!
All the other Christmas Masses were well attended and the church was filled with many joyful voices singing carols.
