First Holy Communion Workshops 2015

On the weekend of 1st, 2nd and 8th, 9th of August, the Parish held Parent/children Workshops for the Sacrament of First Holy Communion.
Candidates from Francis Jordan Catholic, St Simon Peter, PREP and Home School, attended with their parents and  were presented to the Parish at the Mass of Election.

Aloha Winter

Last Saturday evening our Parish held a Winter Event held in the Simon Carson Hall at St Simon Peter Primary School.
The Theme of the night was ‘ALOHA Winter’ and many people who attended dressed up to fit the theme in their Hawaiian shirts, grass skirts and wearing flower garlands around their necks.
The dinner was a sumptuous roast from ‘Absolute Spit Hire’, served with salad and tasty roast vegies supplied by Michael and Mary Tan. For entertainment that evening we had the band called the Northern Nukes made up of John, Terry, Katrina and Jaye who played their Ukuleles and sang some great songs to dance and to sing-a-long. Patrons were encourage to bring along their own instruments to accompany the Band. We couldn’t get Fr. Darek off the stage!
The aim of the night besides getting together as a community and have fun was to help fundraise for our Grotto. So there were raffles, games and a door prize.
A big ‘Thank-You’ is extended to the Parish Social committee headed by Mary and her team of Graham, Rosemary, Michael, Mary and Fr. Darek and the team of helpers Dale, Ninette, Crystal, Margaret, Valmae, John and Fr. Francis who all did a fantastic job of setting up the décor, backdrop and decorations for the night and Adrian and Brad for cutting the meat.

Fr. Darek meets the PM

On Saturday the 16th of May, Fr Darek and other leaders of different communities and churchs in the Joondalup area attended an afternoon tea at the Joondalup Resort where they met with the Prime Minister of Australia, the Honourable Mr. Tony Abbott who was here on a flying visit! The event was hosted by Ian Goodenough MP, Federal Member for Moore.
