Farewell Fr Darek

Saturday the 16th of January the St Simon Peter Parish Community held a farewell dinner after the 6pm Mass for our Parish Priest Father Darek. John Hollywood gave a farewell speech written by Stephen Harris who was unable to attend.
Below are some exterpts from that speech.

Christmas greetings to all!
Our Carols By Glowlight night had a wonderful turnout with a lively atmosphere of enjoyment and community spirit.
Carol singing was led by the Parish Music groups and a large childrens choir conducted by Natalie Templeton.
Santa with bags of lollies came to visit - a big hit with the 100 plus children. A fun night for all!
The 6pm Family Mass started with a Nativity Play written and directed by Fran Beale. Children had two prior rehearsals and did a fantastic presentation on the night.
At the start of Mass Fr. Francis carried baby Jesus (aka Leah Laundy) to be placed in the manger. There she slept till the Homily, great timing!
All the other Christmas Masses were well attended and the church was filled with many joyful voices singing carols.

Park It Market

Congratulations and thank you to all who supported our recent Park It Market - Car Boot Sale.
To all Parishioners for your generosity of your time and your donated items and our local sponsors who donated prizes - Thank you.
A very successful community Fundraising Event with our proceeds going towards the building of our Parish Grotto.

Commissioning of New Altar Servers

It is always exciting to see young people step up in service to theLord…and there is nothing more precious than serving Our Lord on the Altar.
Last Sunday at the 10:00am Mass we welcomed 4 new Altars Servers who were commissioned.
Congratulations to Isabella Fogarty, Bianca Chadinha, Danielle Schroeder and Elena Blackall.
This Sunday we welcome Sebastian Sayers who will also be commissioned.
We pray that all our new Altar Servers, and their parents, would be abundantly blessed in this very special ministry.

Sacrament of Reconciliation

On Wednesday the 19th and Thursday the 20th of August, children from our Parish received the Sacrament of Penance for the first time in a special Prayer Service with the Liturgy of the Word and First Rite of Reconciliation.
In the Homily reflections, we were told that going to Reconciliation is like 'Emptying our rubbish bins of unwanted junk.'  and that in the Prayer of Absolution the Priest says "Through the ministry of the church, may God grant you pardon and peace."
In the Gospel Reading from Colossians we were told that God asks us to be gentle, kind, humble, meek and patient and that love is more important than anything else.
The Pentitential Rite, First Reading, Responsorial Palm, Gospel Acclamation and Examination of Conscience were read at all three services by the children who did a fantastic delivery of their reading with care and reverence.  After the children received their Sacrament, they lit a votive candle with their parents, then collected their certificate and gift from the Parish Centre.
